THE COMMITTEE

The members elected to run the association.

Elected by the whole membership to hold Northgate to its constitution, approve the budget, and answer to you at the AGM.

Currently in office

No committee is sitting at present.

Between terms. Nominations for the next committee open ahead of the AGM.

The last committee’s term has ended and the next has not taken office. Past terms are listed further down this page.

What the committee does

Four areas of responsibility.

The committee's remit is narrow and written down. Anything outside it goes to the membership at the AGM.

Governance

Sets policy, approves the annual budget, and holds the association to its constitution. Meets quarterly, with an additional AGM in October.

Membership

Approves new members, sets tiers and rates, and handles appeals. Bursary decisions sit with a separate panel that reports back at each meeting.

Finance

Publishes audited accounts each year. Every line of spending is itemised in the report circulated to members ahead of the AGM.

Advocacy

Represents the association to alumni gatherings, sister organisations, and — where useful — public institutions. Speaks for the membership, not around it.

Meetings

Open where possible.

Quarterly meetings are minuted and the minutes go to every member. Members may attend as observers with 48 hours' notice — email the Secretary.

Something on your mind?

Members can raise any matter for the committee’s agenda. Email the Secretary at least ten working days before the next meeting; the item will be added and you’ll be invited to speak to it.
